Sana’a: A Living Museum
May 2004
(Hardcover, Color, 96 pp.)

In 2004, Sana’a was named the Arab Cultural Capital. In commemoration of this great event, the Yemen Observer issued a special publication, Sana’a: A Living Museum, highlighting some of the special events carried out over the year while also focusing on the incredible history of Yemen’s beautiful capital.

From its maze-like souks and ancient caravanserais to its towering houses and walls, Sana’a is one of the only living cities to have preserved its unique architectural and cultural heritage intact. The same features that made it a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985 and Arab Cultural Capital in 2004 continue to be a draw for artists, poets, filmmakers—and tourists from around the world.
