Planting of wheat crop is good step towards achieving food security.
The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Dr. Mansour al-Howshabi, confirmed the importance of encouraging farmers and supporting them either through the provision of agricultural studies, or by providing tools, improved seeds and modern irrigation systems to expand the areas under cultivation of various food grains, especially wheat.

He made this statement during his visit to al-Hataresh area in Sana'a province last Sunday to launch harvest wheat crop in that region.

Agricultural rationalization is an important factor for improving farming sector, and it seeks to protect crops from pests and diseases, said al-Howshabi.

He directed all institutions, agricultural bodies and other relevant authorities in their respective areas of competence to provide for the needs of the agricultural process, particularly improved seeds and fertilizers, as well as intensification of campaigns of awareness for farmers to increase and improve production.

I consider the practice of planting wheat crop good step towards achieving the government's program for expanding the cultivation of various food crops which aim to achieve food security.

The launch was attended by Chief of Agricultural Development Authority, Mohamed Abdul Aziz Abdul Ghani, and the General Director of the Authority, Arif Ali Abdu, and Dr. Mansour al-Aagel the Director of Information and Rationalization in the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and a number of other officials.
