Transport and education projects reviewed by cabinet

The Cabinet argued in its weekly meeting over the package of an executive program for investment projects with external funding, including projects related to the education and transport sectors.

The package shows the total allocations to the education sector from new funding which has reached $163 million. The funding is distributed among several projects: improving secondary education, women’s education, basic education, and improving illiteracy.

The Minister of Education discussed the report on mechanisms of technical and executive measures associated with these projects in addition to the projects his ministry is planning to carry out.

While allocations to transport projects has reached $226 million, distributed among projects of improving Sana'a International Airport, constructing the new passage of Taiz Airport, and a new Soqotra airport.

The Minister of Transport clarified in a report that construction of the three aforementioned projects will start in 2010. He informed the council on clarifications of ministry of technical education and vocational training on the projects of this sector.
