Sana’a mayor Abdul Rahman al-Aqwa held a meeting with the Board Chairman of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), Abdul Latif al-Hamad, over the varying levels of implementation for the AFESD’s projects, which are financed by the group in Yemen.

They also discussed the agreement signed between Yemen and the fund. The agreement sought to finance a project protecting Sana’a City from flash flooding. The proposed project held a budget of $24 million USD.

The mayor lauded the role of the Arab fund for their supportive efforts of development in Yemen. He pointed to the main projects financed by the fund, such as the first phase of the sanitation project, worth $70 million USD.

Al-Ahmad expressed his concerns that the funds proposed for the Old City in Sana’a be approved, as the city has an emotional and historical connection with all Arabs.
