Kidnappers from the tribe of Khawlan in Sana'a have released this morning Asim al-Samawi, brother of the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Esam al-Samawi.
Tribesmen from Khawlan kidnapped al-Samawi last Friday to put pressure on the judicial authorities to cancel death sentences against Sheikh of Khawlan, Abdullah Abdul-Wahab al-Qadhi and four of his sons over killing two tribesmen affiliate to head of the Court of Appeals in Sana'a, Judge Hamoud al-Hardi in a dispute on a piece of land.
Sheikh al-Qadhi said they have released al-Samawi after an agreement with the governor of Sana'a to solve the conflict between him and al-Hardi and to remove the confusion in the case.
Al-Qadhi said the killed tribesmen started firing at his fellows who had to open fire in return.
Bar association condemns abduction of SJC head's brother
The Yemeni Bar Syndicate condemned the kidnapping of the brother of the Supreme Judicial Court head, Esam al-Samwi, on Saturday.
The syndicate expressed sorrow as Dr. Asim al-Samwai was kidnapped, demanding the government to immediately arrest the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
Armed tribesmen of Bani Dhabian of Sana'a governorate abducted Al-Samawi, following a judgment issued against a sheikh of Bani Dhabian, who has been convicted of assaulting a plot of land and killing two of its guards.
