Jadal caravan to make a national cultural tour

A newly established youth forum called “Jadal’” is on a mission to reinvigorate Yemen’s stagnant cultural scene. The youth forum dispatched their cultural caravan which seeks to resurrect cultural life, and drag it back from the Stone Age. 

The caravan provided the cultural arena with talented innovative youth, due to the individual efforts of author Abdulghani al-Hiajim, Murwan al-Himiari, and poet and forum secretary Ramzi al-Khalidi.

The first caravan’s activity was inaugurated at the in Taiz, as an honor to the new poets coming from Sana’a to join the caravan. Many culture officials and dignitaries attended the function, including Amar al- Mo’lim, the Taiz governorate public relations’ manager and Abdulgawi Salim, the information center manager.

Visitors from Sana’a were introduced by announcers Ryan Najib and poet Ashwaq al-Yarimi. Visitors Khalid al- Siaghi, Basher al-Masqari and Amar al-Jonaid, and Poets Mohammed Noman al-Hakimi, Faisal al-Dhabahani, Hani al-Faham and Adel al-Jabiri also participated, receiving great applause from the spectators.

The poetry talent of Amar al-Mo’lim was commended by the function, and he read several of his poems. Composer Fadhl al-Nahari’s lute managed to depict the poems’ words into live music.

The caravan also visited Lahj and the commercial capital, Aden. Sculptor Widad al-Ramimi accompanied the caravan to Aden, and at al-Mansora, they met with poet Esam Wasil, who came over from Mukala to join the caravan. The Aden program included a visit to al-Jamhoria publishing establishment, where they were met by poet Mohammed al-Bothaiji, the caravan’s ambassador at Aden, accompanied by the caravan members, Samah Ryadh, Hanan Mohammed, and Fatima and Rashad Nashir.

Samir Saleh at the al-Jamhoria publishing house treated the caravan as if he is one of its members. At al-Ayam publishing house, they were met by Firdos al-Amali. There was a debate at al-Ayam house with the establishment manager, Shrahil Hisham ba Shrahil over the possibility of issuing a flash cultural issue, and the possibility of reviving the cultural situation.

In their visit to the national museum, the caravan met tourists who were very impressed by the, sea and the hospitality of the Adanis.

At the youth house, the caravan met Fatima Rashad, Hanan Mohammed and Mohammed al-Buthaihi who had organized the welcome preparations. Poet Faisal al-Thabahani gave a speech, outlining the forum’s establishment and objectives, and discussing the state of culture in Yemen, in the wake of the international poetry day.

Poems and stories were presented at the writers’ forum; poets Mazin Tawfiq and Amr al-Iriani recited their poems accompanied by lute playing.
