In a vintage house, showing the soul and beauty of Old Sana’a, many youth artists show their art of joy and distresses. They are joined in paintings resembling the sincerity and mercifulness of Old Sana’a.
The Art House in Old Sana’a is not only a place where plastic art artists unpack their creative colors on paper, but it is also a tourist destination for Sana’a visitors and guests.
The exhibition is one of a series of houses in different governorates adopted by the Ministry of Culture during the term of office of former Minister of Culture, Khalid al-Rawishan. However, the Old Sana’a house won distinction because of its unique tourist and cultural position.
The Sana’a plastic art gallery is located right at the entrance of the the main gate of Old Sana’a through Bab al-Yemen. It stands there welcoming you to the open museum of Old Sana’a.
The House is a five story building, divided between the artists’ paintings and galleries. The scenery of the house is topped by multiples old windows overlooking Old Sana’a with an open hall dedicated for the viewers who want to see Old Sana’a from above.
Entering the House, you will be suddenly met with the amazing colorful walls that will accompany you all along your passage towards the stairs where the walls are covered by the Art House youths’ innovations.
The House is full of souls from the paintings, which managed to generate new beautiful portraits for Sana’a.
Walid Dalah, the House manager, said that many visitors come to this House and many paintings are sold to the foreign tourists, showing that they are endeavoring to introduce the Yemeni heritage in splendid form through these exhibitions of innovated art, which displays the history in a modern way through the Sana’a houses scenery and by portraying the Sana’a elderly features.
Through its unique location and stunning display of art, the House acts as indirect tourist promoter and contributes to raising the awareness of the tourists and visitors in methods more effective than the verbal presentations.
