Culture festival calls for cultural revolution

Hail Saeed’s Cultural and Sciences board member, Abdul-Jabbar Hail, confirmed in Taiz that their group has successfully interacted with the community’s interests through the enhancement the community’s cultural and scientific standards. 

The announcement came at the launch of al-Saeed’s 2008 11th Cultural Festival, held in al- Saeed forum hall in Taiz. He pointed out that the al-Saeed board is working closely to promote the establishment’s performance and their serious interaction with the community. He described the al-Saeed annual festival as the a festival of deeds, achievements, and innovation, whose scientific and cultural functions confirm the distinctiveness of the establishment that marks the unique harmonization with the modern cultural international changes. 

He insured that the establishment’s board is seeking the continuous renewal, development, and expansion of their role to contain the different community’s capacities for generating a cultural revival, that will be incorporated into the social and economic development fields.

Faisal Saeed Farie, al-Saeed Cultural and Scientific manager, said the 11th festival marks the shift from the locality to the wider Arab zone, declaring that the festival will witness the participation of the publishing houses to present readers books that were not easy to obtain. It also aims at regaining the reputation of our reading nation, in order to be able to coop with the modern era’s civilization. 

He also revealed that new accomplishments will be launched at the cultural level, which will include the creation of al-Saeed Center for Languages and Training that will provide access to all of the latest world trends. 

He added that the establishment is continuously discussing the language, arts, education, and health issues and that it seeks to acquire the up-to-date publications and the library computerized systems that makes our library the first national library that attracts researchers from all over the governorates.  

Ramzi abdul-aziz al-Yousifi, the Taiz Culture Office manager thanked the Hail group on behalf of all Taiz people for the services they provide to culture. However, he added that he hopes that the group at the beginning of their next decade should turn attention to the activities that received only seasonal attention, such as the theater, music, cinema, and folklore, pointing out that despite the potentials of Taiz in these fields, there is a lack of recourses that undermines their innovations.

Mohammed al-Haj, Taiz Vice Governor, said that the annual festival enriches the cultural field, pointing out that the crisis is one of cultural and not economic perspective.

The al-Saeed 11th Cultural Festival included several lectures, one was about the the use of sun rays in light analysis for the stimulus of the pesticide widely used in Yemen.

Journalist Abdurrahman Bujash, gave a lecture on April 27 entitled “A Street Tale, The Revolution and Revolutionaries Passed From Here. Dr. Abdul -Hamid al-Hisami also lectured about the social change in Yemen through the narrative literature. Amin al-Salahi, and Mohammed Saif Abdullah, lectured about the moderateness of Islam.
