Al-Shaqaiq Human Rights Forum organized on Wednesday 3 June, this year’s Woman Democratic Forum over women’s political participation problems in Hodeida governorate.
The Historical Manuscripts Center in Zabid completed preparing the second and third parts of the historical library index of Zabid in cooperation with the French Institute for Social Sciences Studies.
The center’s manuscripts’ general manager, Arafat Abdurrahman al-Hadrami, said that the center and the institute finished preparing the arrangements for producing the second and third parts of the special libraries’ index, which documents 220 historical manuscripts of the eighth up to the twelfth hijri centuries.
The event comes within the project for fostering women’s participation in politics, within which a number of events were held in the capital Sana’a, Taiz and Ibb governorates, with an event to be held later on in Hadramout. Bilqis al-Lahabi, the project’s coordinator, said that the forum aims at raising dialogues with the local bodies, the media, the parties and the intellectuals at the targeted governorates, attributing the weak female participation to the parties and the lack of a serious social approach to this issue. The problem is also due to a lack of woman’s advocacy to their fellow sisters and to their absence at the elected parliament and local council elections.
Al-Lahabi pointed out that the manuscripts included in the first and second parts, sum more than 350 pages of large size. A study analyzed the scientific, historical, jurisprudential, astronomical and other data and information contained in these manuscripts. The first part of the library’s index was published at the end of last year in 180 pages of big size. The first and second parts focused on defining the general manuscripts, the manuscripts papers’ type, their manufacture which is disclosed by their secret water signs, the type and manufacture of the inks used in writing them, the type of graphics used in writing the manuscripts in addition to the historical and scientific significance of these manuscripts.
