Al-Salami began the discussion by saying that readers and critics should focus on the style of the writing and the technique that the writer used, not his or her age or when he or she started writing.
He added that there is a condition of balance in Yemeni literature, which proves that there is no different between the two generations.
He said that he can not deny that some writers from the new generation have strong language and electronic tools to help them publish their works, in addition to poetry competitions which open new horizons in the collective mind of the youth, and help to spread their work even further.
Al-Madhhaji agreed with al-Salami’s opinion, saying that readers and critics should not divide writers by controversial measures because no differences are present in both generations.
He added that the problem facing Yemeni literature today is the issue of Yemeni writers who are still writing by basic methods, with the exceptions of Dr. Nadiah al-Kokabany and Ali al-Moqri, who work in different styles.
