The Educational and Vocational Rehabilitation Center for kids with special needs held a ceremony honoring its top students and its graduates at Al-Sabeen Park last Monday, June 22nd.
Either in spoken or sign language, the young students presented, sang, acted, and performed their talents with no fear at all. One group’s play showed the importance of unity during a story of two neighbors, one of them from Sana’a and the other from Aden, by acting out their different lifestyles with their dancing and accents.
The Executive Director of the center, Mr. Ahmed al-Ezzi spoke with the Yemen Observer about the center. He said that the center contains educational and vocational sections with 266 students. He added that the students of the center are really gifted, and the handmade products of the students which were exhibited can prove how talented they are.
“Our students are really creative and we should encourage them. They keep coming to us to ask how well they performed,” said social worker and teacher Aswan Abdullah to the Yemen Observer.
She added, “I am disappointed by the fact that our students don’t receive their rights either through high education, careers, or through society's perception. I hope they will obtain more support and attention. "
The students’ faces said a lot, either while they were performing about the Palestinian issue, the importance of the unity, or as they were honored as top students by the principal and their teachers.
