He is regarded as one of the founders of Yemen’s musical movements in Lahj. His significance lies in his enrichment to the overall Yemeni musical library. The singer Faisel Alwi (1949-2010), died at age of 61 in Aden province, on Sunday after a long suffering from illness. He was born in al-Shqa’a village in Lahj province. He has three sons and one daughter. His body was buried on Monday after praying for him in al-Dawla mosque in Lahj province.
By his absence, Yemen misses one of the best magical melodies singers and one of the most touching voices the nation had. His popular songs, demonstrating his true talent, have always been part of every Yemeni’s lives. His songs have always presented charismatic style that unconsciously led to their massive popularity.
His first song on 1958 “Asa’alek bi alhob ya fatin gamil”, that he recorded in Aden, is considered to be his first introduction to the Yemeni musical world. In addition, he was one of the most active singers in reviving the folklore music during his musical life course.
