The British Council will organize a 3-day workshop on the ‘Quality of Academic Programmes’ for 36 academic leaders from Al-Hodeida University, during the period of March 1st to the 3rd.

The workshop will aim at improving participants’ skill-sets in developing relevant learning outcomes and evaluating them in light of students’ particular needs and priorities. It will also shed light on the quality of teaching and learning and the objectives and evaluation of the academic programme. Trainees will attend a practicum aimed to enable them in implementing learned skills. The workshop will be led by international expert, Professor Abdullateef al-Hakimi, ex-Dean of the Faculty of Education of the United Arab Emirates University.  Dr. al-Hakimi currently works as an academic and educational consultant.  Professor Haider has also been delivering training for higher education institutions in many countries in the Middle East and outside.

The British Council in coordination with Al-Hodeida University selected 36 participants, ensuring representation from all the University’s departments. The participants are mostly deans, vice deans, and department heads who are in a position to apply the knowledge and affect decision-making processes.

This workshop is organized as part of the British Council’s programme for ‘Higher Education Excellence’ which aims to contribute to the development of a higher standard of education in Yemen and the Gulf. Most of Yemen’s public universities and some private have already undergone similar training workshops over the past year.
