The Cultural Development Planning Foundation (CDPF) along with Anssar network to support women’s access to parliament held a seminar last week in al-Hudaidah governorate to raise awareness on women’s political participation. The seminar also aimed to find a supportive environment for women to be politically active in the governorate.

Anssar network in al-Hudaidah run the seminar at the information center building in the governorate’s office and presented a presentation on the importance of women’s political participation in the country’s over political game and how to break the obstacles against women’s political participation in the coming parliamentary elections   and securing maximum number of women to reach parliament in 2011.

In addition, Anssar network in governorates; Hadramout, Dhamar, Taiz and Ibb held seminars on raising awareness on women’s political participation

Anssar network’s project to support women’s political participation is part of a program on democracy and human rights of the foundation in the governorates (Sana’a, Dhamar, Taiz, Hadramout,  al-Hudaidah, Hajjah, Ibb and al-Maharah).

The Cultural Development Program Foundation has been seeking, since 2007, to form a lobby from all political spectrums and civil societies to ensure women’s access to parliamentary seats in the 2011 elections, in order to amend the constitution and hence the election and partisan laws for either securing a share of specific electoral seats or the presence in the parties’ relative electoral lists.
