The Yemeni Children's Parliament is started its sessions last Thursday for the 2012-2014 Parliamentarian phase in the Parliaments' Grand Hall for electing the Speaker and two Vice-Speakers in the attendance of Government officials, NGOs, International Organizations and numerous Media outlets.

The Opening session organized by the Democratic School the "General Council of the Children's Parliament" commences with the support of the "Childs' Care Organization" and the UNICEF in cooperation with the Parliament, Human Rights Ministry, The Maternal and Childs' Higher Council, The Ministry of Education and the Supreme Elections Committee.
It is worth mentioning that the Children's Parliament elections were held earlier on April last month with the participation of more than 150 thousand child nationwide who practiced their right to elect 50 Child MPs from both sexes as their representatives in addition to 4 child refugees as observers to increase the discussions about refugees in Yemen.
The Yemeni Children's Parliament has held six electoral phases since 2000 with support of the Democratic School, Children's Care Organization and a number of local, governmental and international bodies as the Children's Parliament holds elections every two years in which the democratic procedures go according to the Yemeni elections laws.
In addition the number of Child MPs was raised from 38 to 50 in an attempt to make the Children's Parliament a representative of all Yemeni children as "Childs' Care" Organization called on the participation of refugee children in the new Children's Parliamentarian elections for the 2012 phase because all the Yemeni children are entitled to the same rights. On that the refugee children were represented in the Yemeni Children's Parliament for the first time ever.
