Yemen has been through the most difficult times in its modern history where most of its infrastructure was destroyed and many of its buildings, roads, electricity, oil pipes and the list is long were all subject to sabotage.

Change is a good thing but what is more important is the how of the process of change.  We have a new government now and all Yemeni people are eager to see the change that they have been hearing about for the past ten months. But there is a very thin line between positive change and a change that can lead to the downfall of the whole state.

Thousands of families were deprived of their main sources of revenues and all were alright expressing their patience that things will get better.

They were disappointed that there is no one sign that show that there will be any improvement in their living standards. What is prevailing now is the culture of revenge in most of the places.

No security. Soldiers and high ranking officials are assassinated, cars are looted, people are kidnapped, and Islamist groups of al-Qaeda are gaining other grounds in southern and northern places. Marib, al-Jawf, Shabwah, Abyan, Sa’adah are without government and there will be more. Laws are lost and the new government can not get a grip over things even in the capital and major cities. The government alone can do nothing, this time all people should take part in the rebuilding of our country.

The government without the support of honest and patriotic individuals won’t be able even to provide citizens with most important and basic services like water, electricity, health and education. Many schools in Aden, Sana’a and Abyan are still closed and the number of students that are not getting education is alarming.

The process of immigration among Yemenis from the beginning of the crisis is also increasing, most of many of which are from the most qualified who were forced to flee their house because they were located in conflict areas. It is about time that the new government stops vendetta and enforces laws and its new or amended constitution. But again, only Yemenis can build their own country.

Until when we will be dependent on foreign aid and foreign help? Our country has and enjoys a lot of sources but it needs management. Yemen has all the potentials to be one of the best and richest countries in the region, however, this can only achieved through unity of all people with all their different political affiliations. Let’s keep our parties and let’s all join one main party and let’s call it Yemen.

Our message to the people of Yemen, people all over the globe unite because they have come to realize that unity is power while Yemenis seek and even dig for all and any reasons to get divided and scattered. Everyone among us must think what he would tell his sons and daughters when they ask us what did we do when Yemen was going through this crisis in order to save it. Let’s ask ourselves before they ask us and before it is too late. God Help those who help themselves.
