DHAMAR- The Regional Station for Central Highlands Researches (RSCHR) is examining the seeds of many agricultural products in order to enhance them and distribute them to farmers. According to Dr. Abdullah Muharram, the RSCHR general manager, some promising seeds have been studied and distributed to farmers in order to replace seeds of lower quality.

Unpopular agricultural products which are grown less and less, such as cumin, black seeds and coriander are being studied, enhanced if needed, and then spread to replace the less quality species.  He said that the RSCHR has stored samples of less used wild plants, domestic fruits, medical and fungal herbs with special genetic traits.

Oil-producing plants such as sunflowers were successfully enhanced and their large scale use is expected to ultimately result in improving quality of life of farmers.

The RSCHR is mainly concerned with maximizing the use of arable land and available water resources by assisting farmers to use seeds that tolerate the environment and produce the highest quality products.
