An under construction building of two floors collapsed on a group of workers in Haddah area in Sana'a, today afternoon, said eyewitnesses.
Bandar Ali Mahyoub a survivor worker from Taiz said he and other 12 workers were working in the under construction building. He said that the concrete was poured on the roof of the second story at nine hours this morning. "While we were preparing to leave for lunch the concrete fall down making a big blow, I jumped out and screamed" said Al-Sabri.
He said that seven workers were rescued by the civil defense and that five other people are still under the concrete including the contractor.
The contractor and the other four workers are believed to have passed away under the 40 tons collapsed concrete. Al-Sabri said that the contractor's name was Hussein but refused to disclose his full name. "The contractor is from the same tribe of the owner of the building who is a well known businessman," said al-Sabri.
Civil Defense' General Director Ismail Abdallah Nasser said that the rescue operation is still going on, but he did not clarify the preliminary number of victims because the search for missing workers is still continuing as he mentioned to media.
