U.S. President Barack Obama has confirmed the United States support for Yemen’s unity, security and stability.

In his letter to President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Obama said that the security of Yemen is vital for security of the United States of America and of the region.

Obama said that the United States would present an initiative to support Yemen to face all its development obstacles and enhance reforms efforts through the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (WB) and donors as well as states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The letter was handed over by the Assistant to the US President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism John Brennan during his meeting with president Saleh last Saturday.

The American leader highlighted current partnership between Yemen and United States in field of combating terrorism, saying that al Qaeda network is the most dangerous.

In the meeting with Bernnan, president Saleh reviewed with the US official aspects of the mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The US official valued Yemen’s efforts in combating terrorism, affirming his country’s desire to boost its ties with Yemen and support efforts of the development process in Yemen.

President Saleh asked the US official to convey his response letter to president Obama concerning issues of common concern.
