The Yemenia Airbus 300-310 was hit by a French missile and caused the killing of all of its passengers, except a girl aged 14 years who was the only survivor in the incident, said official sources in the Comoros Island.
According to the results of investigations, the Yemeni government will demand the French government compensation for the airliner and families of the victims who were killed in the incident, in addition to the losses inflicted on the Yemenia Airways Company.
Media outlets quoted statements by officials in the Comoros Islands, including accusations of the French vessels present in the Comoros regional waters during the crash of the Yemeni airplane. A Comoros official was then quoted saying that the French vessels were present in the site of the incident just one day before the crash of the plane. He said he did not rule out that the Yemeni plane was hit with a missile from one of the French vessels and that caused its immediate crash.
He added, “We do not rule out the happening of this. It is not a criminal act but the plane was present at a time it was not allowed to be there.”
French media reports have said that the Yemenia Aircraft was unstable, and was in need of maintenance.
The Yemenia Airways Company airliner crashed in the Comoros Islands on June 30th, 2009 and was carrying 153 passengers.
