YEMEN - President Ali Abdullah Saleh announced on Thursday that he would call all political forces and civil society organizations for a national and responsible dialogue that would look at and tackle all issues of the nation.
The announcement of the dialogue came in the President's speech to the nation on Eid al-Adha. President Saleh said that the dialogue would deal with most pressing issues to assure reaching a unified national position towards these concerns including rebellion in Sa'adah province, criminal acts in some districts of southern eastern provinces and the terrorist danger of al Qaeda in addition to economic challenges that Yemen is facing.
President Saleh said that the dialogue would be under umbrella of the Constitution, and national principles of unification and democracy, stressing importance of the dialogue to resolve all sorts of disputes.
President Saleh then spoke about the military operations in Sa'adah, Harf Sufyan and al-Malahadh, fighting against al-Houthi rebels.
He treasured national relief convoys sent from different regions of the country to support military and security forces in the battlefield and to assist the displaced people who left their homes because of the attacks of the rebels. President Saleh also expressed his great appreciation for the partnership of countries that have announced their support for the unity, stability and security of Yemen.
He indicated to teachings of Islam that calls for tolerance, brotherhood and unity, praying all the best for the nation and all Islamic and Arab countries.
"We renew the call to all political forces in the government and opposition with whom we share the responsibility of building and developing our country to discuss all our national issue and concerns through an open dialogue. A dialogue that is away and free from violence or imposing conditions. We need to reach common grounds to achieve the goals of the dialogue," said President Saleh.
President Saleh then praised the efforts and heroic acts that the fighters of the military fighting the rebels in all fronts praying for those who died in the line of duty protecting the country's security.
"The terrorists, al-Houthis, are ignorant and practice all sorts of racism, giving themselves the right to claim priority over other human beings, exercise voodoo religion, while packaging it as an righteous acts from God. They deceive ordinary people and children and commit the worst of crimes: the bloodshed of Muslims. This is the violation of honor for money, without the slightest pretext of religion," said President Saleh.
The President said that this deviant group, infected with the devil itself, has dedicated themselves to serve a foreign agenda. They have destroyed schools, hospitals, roads and public facilities. They have wreaked havoc in the land, and are delusional for thinking that these criminal acts will achieve the success of bringing back the Yemeni people to previous decades.
President Saleh then congratulated all Yemeni people and Islamic nations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, wishing all people in Yemen, Arab and Islamic countries prosperity and happiness.
