Man attempts to hijack plane at Sana’a Airport

YEMEN - Security officials foiled a 24-year-old man’s attempt to hijack a Yemenia Airline plane heading to Cairo yesterday, stated the interior ministry information center.


The hijacker was arrested at the airport after being detected by security staff at Sana'a Airport. The perpetrator is from Sa'adah and was carrying a hand grenade a loaded pistol hidden in his handbag.


Security units did not rule out that the perpetrator may be from al-Houthi followers. According to preliminary investigations, the man confessed of his intention of hi-jacking to get personal demands. Security units then referred the suspect to the concerned authorities for interrogation to find his motives and if there is anybody behind him.
