Around 1000 Yemeni Sheikhs and dignitaries strongly rejected outright any foreign interference at an extended meeting in Expo Hall January 26th.
The three things threatening security and stability in Yemen through the recent period are as follows: al-Houthis, the Southern Movement, and al-Qaeda. There were many Yemeni Sheikhs at the Sheikhs and Dignitaries meeting, where they discussed the current problems Yemen faces.
Sheikh Sadiq Bin Abdullah al-Ahmar, the Hashid tribe’s Sheikh and a member of al-Shura Council, affirmed that all Yemeni Sheikhs devote themselves to the sake of Yemen.
“Regardless of what organizations and parties are saying about us, we are ‘important’, as known throughout history, and we have a great impact on Yemeni people. So, no one can deny that.” said al-Ahmar. Al-Ahmar discussed Yemen political contemporary issues with many other sheikhs and dignitaries. “We concluded the discussion that we will never abandon Yemen Unification because it is not the result of the day. Moreover, we all agreed to stand against any foreign intervention in Yemeni lands.” he added.
“This good meeting comes in order to stop the dangerous situations in Yemen. Before this, the meeting of Yemen religious scholars was held for the same reason. Today, the meeting of dignitaries and sheikhs confirm what Yemeni religious scholars meeting ended up with,” said Sheikh Ali al-Kadhi, Secretary General of Iman University, Taiz branch. “They all announced their support to Yemen Unification and to prevent any foreign interference in Yemeni internal affairs and not to take al-Qaeda existing as an excuse to interfere. This is the position of all Yemeni,” he added.
“You have heard the statement which mainly concentrated on denying any foreign interference .it also confirmed what was mentioned in the Yemen religious scholars meeting held earlier this month,” said Sheikh Mohammed Bin al-Hazmi, a parliament member. “That means all Yemeni people -sheikhs and tribes- strongly stand with Yemeni Unification, and against any foreign interference.”
