Sana’a University students held a simulation of an international summit last Thursday at the Military Officers Club.
“Yemen-International Summit conference for discussing Yemen’s challenges and working it out” was organized and simulated by third year students of political science at Sana’a University and supervised by the university’s Diplomacy Professor, Dr. Abdullah al-Faqeeh.
“It would be a great idea for the Yemeni students and American students to have a joint simulation, yet it would be difficult to transport American students to Yemen,” Walker Murray, the Cultural Attaché at the US Embassy in Sana’a, adding that after seeing the Yemeni students, he is more optimistic about the future of Yemen.
“This simulation was meant to help the students link the theory with application in the field of diplomacy and negotiation,” Walker said.
Abdulmalik al-Sayagi, Chairman of the Student’s Union in Sana’a University, assured that the students in the political science departments really need these activities, and that the union is willing to assist and support such events.
The students discussed many security issues such as the southern movement, al-Qaeda, economical issues and war against al-Houthies.
This simulation occurs several times throughout the school year, yet each time, Sana’a must find new donors to support the conference.
