Al-Qaeda raids continue

Eleven al-Qaeda members were reportedly captured on Wednesday by security forces after a raid in their place in Sawad Hanash area, Sana’a.
 
“An al-Qaeda member’s father retaliated to the raid and shot a soldier but was killed during an exchange of fire with the security forces,” said a security source to the defense ministry’s online newspaper. The eleven members were captured and are currently under interrogation, and the results will be used for prosecution.
 
Ten al-Qaeda members in Zenjobar, Abyan province, were captured by security forces in the middle of last week. Al-Qaeda members and security forces engaged in a fighting resulting in the death of two al-Qaeda men and two security staff. Five other security forces were wounded.
 
The al-Qaeda men killed were identified as Ali Saleh al-Yafiey and Ahmed Mohsen al-Saedi.
 
Yemen beganstarted an intensified campaign against Al-Qaeda in late December as international pressure raised after the failed attempt to blow up a US-bound plane over Detroit on December 25 claimed by the militant network’s Yemeni arm.
