Over 1,500 government administrative employees have been referred to the public prosecution under the direction of the Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC). The employees will be investigated due to irregularities within their financial disclosure statements. Mohammed Hamood al-Matari, a member of SNACC and the head of the committee, over viewing financial disclosure statements,

explained that the SNACC had offered government employees and officials repeated opportunities to declare complete financial disclosure statements. Ultimatums were issued to all suspected persons two weeks ago, al-Matari added, in order to notify all employees. However, according to official records, over 1,500 government administrative employees did not abide by the laws.

SNACC will refer all cases of illegal business and government activities to the responsible legislative and judicial bodies in order to undertake the necessary legal action against those responsible.

On October 10, 2007, SNACC received several financial disclosure statements as Law No. (30) for the year 2006 was implemented across the government, said al-Matari. More than 6,000 financial disclosure statements have been handed over to SNACC since October 2008, al-Matari added.
