Suicide attack misses British ambassador

A suicide attack targeting the British Ambassador failed to touch the ambassador.

Initial reports indicate that a suicide bomber blasted himself in front of the vehicle of the British Ambassador, Tim Torlot, near the Berlin Park on Dairy Road while he was in his way from his home in the south of Sana’a to the Embassy located in Dhah Himyar area in the East of Sana’a on Monday morning, said a source at the Yemeni Ministry of Interior.

Projects manager at the British Embassy confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident adding that the incident didn’t happen in the embassy.

Sources at the Ministry of Interior said that the forensic teams were sent to the place of the incident to collect evident and find out details and motives of the incident.

A woman and child passerbys were wounded, eyewitnesses affirmed. The escort’s vehicle was slightly damaged, said Mohamed Alian, eyewitness. “It was 8:30 am when the bomb went off,” said Alian.

Eyewitnesses also said that at least one person was killed, apparently the suicide bomber.
