Colonel Abdullah Al-Thuraia, manager of the political security office of Aden’s Tawahi district, died Sunday from severe wounds he sustained when an explosive device went off, killing him and another soldier. The attack happened as they rushed to investigate a previous explosion which took place behind a radio and TV building.
The first explosion happened at 10 pm on Sunday. When the policemen and political security officers flocked to the place of the incident they discovered that the first explosion did not cause any damages or casualties. It was the result of a sound bomb, a ruse meant to attract security forces. While the officers were investigating the first incident, a second explosion went off, killing a soldier and wounding Colonel al-Thuraia and four other people, in addition to causing heavy material damages. There were no initial reports on who was behind the explosions.
