Yemen - British diplomats escaped an assassination attempt in east Sana’a earlier today. The attackers, believed to be al-Qaeda militants, launched a LAW missile at a convoy of British diplomats in the Azal zone, near the site of the attack against the British Ambassador last April.
Sources at the British embassy confirmed that the British ambassador was not with the convoy.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed there has been an "attack involving a British embassy vehicle".
No British casualties have been reported.
Eye witnesses said that one of the vehicles hit a woman and her child while trying to escape the attack. Some other eye witnesses said they saw metal parts believed to be parts of a missile at the place of the incident.
Security forces were deployed at the location of the incident and blocked off the area.
No official report has been issued by security authorities.
