Ever since the General back in March 2011 decided to renounce former President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s regime and sided with the Youth, revolutionaries accused his soldiers and al-Islah – his political faction – to have established a reign of terror of “change Square” – main rallying point of the revolution in the capital Sana’a – as to promote his own political agenda rather than help materialize the aspirations of a nation.

For months, reports of abuse, enrollment of under-age soldiers and other human rights violations went on unchallenged as Yemen was sinking into chaos. A recent report from the UN published mid-June however named and shamed Gen.

Mohsin al-Ahmar for his crimes, attesting that according to reports, testimonies and registered proofs, the 1st Armored Division had indeed committed abuses against the military and civilian population. In the video men confessed they were repeatedly beaten by soldiers under the command of Gen. al-Ahmar and subjected to various tortures.
