Yemeni child hangs himself imitating Turkish series

In imitation of a character from the Turkish series “Valley of the Wolves”, 10-year-old Ghaith Ma’mar al-Shawish hanged himself with a rope inside a room in his family house in imitation of a character in the famous Turkish serious.

Ghaith Ma’mar al-Shawish who lives in al-Arsh district, al-Baidha province hanged himself at 10  on Saturday morning when he was playing in the yard of his home. He wrapped a rope to the swing and around his neck.

 Local sources told the Althawra newspaper that the family of the child found him hanging from the swing and tried to take him to the nearby hospitalدbut doctors confirmed that the child arrived at the hospital dead.

The child’s family pointed out that he was influenced by a scene in which one of the characters of the Turkish series committed suicide, leading him to emulate him. Social figures in Rada’a city in al-Baidha province called in need for follow-up and monitoring series and games that watched and played by their children that may affect their behavior and actions.

 The series of “Valley of the Wolves” is famous in Yemen among children and reflects on children’s physiological behavior. “Most children wanted a gun as gift to imitate Murad Almadar, the leading character in this series,” said Mohamed Abdullah, a resident of Sana’a.
