Yemen former President Ali Abdullah Saleh chaired delivered an important speech on the 3th anniversary of the GPC.

Political sources expected Saleh’s opponents to resort to political and security escalation within the few coming days in response to his speech in which he strongly criticized his internal and external opponents especially the Joint Meeting Parties “JMP” and Qatar which he attacked in name.

The JMP media had quickly responded to Saleh’s speech, by an escalation which was not limited only to immunity lifting, but went to demanding his trial with his aides and former cliques, going to the extent of directing personal abuses to Saleh.

The organizational committee of the youth revolution has hastily called for a million mass marches, for reviving the revolution (according to a statement from the committee).

Sources said the leader in Islah, Hamid al-Ahmar contacted a number of senior Muslim brotherhood leaders, asking them to move quickly to mobilize their followers in million mass marches in Sana’a to demand the expulsion of Saleh from Yemen and fire his supporters from leading state positions, after he received pledges from Qatar for financing these marches.

“President Saleh, through his speech which he gave amid a huge gathering of his supporters sent a message that he is still an important figure in the Yemeni arena,” said Sheikh Ali Senan al-Gholi, member of the permanent GPC.  Former President Saleh said in his speech he had transferred power voluntarily, and not through sit-ins, blocking routes and blowing up oil pipes, but to preserve the Yemeni blood.

He criticized the performance of the Reconciliation Government “RG”, pointing to its incompetence in running the state, imposing authority, maintaining security and provision of basic services, asking her to play its role or depart. Saleh called the General People’s Conference “GPC” members to support President Hadi in the transitional period and for the success of the national dialogue.

He criticized the performance of the military committee noticing that it focuses on expulsion of the GPC members from their posts, and called it to focus on its main duties instead.

“The GPC had saved Yemen from crisis in the period of seventies, worked for reconciliation and maintained state’s prestige, security and stability.

It had a great role in the  establishment and safeguard of the Yemeni unity,” Saleh said reviewing the events since the seventies and refusing what he called the much ado about nothing of disengagement, stressing the Yemenis devotion to unity.  He called his GPC party to change balance and keep their solidarity, ensuring cleaning their party from the (betrayers) who deserted it during the crisis.
