The Arab State of Qatar has allocated $ 500 million in grants and loans for the implementation of development projects in Yemen.
In a statement at the Friends of Yemen conference held in New York last week, HE Dr. Khalid Bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, Qatar’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs said “the State of Qatar started to prepare a program for stability and development in the Republic of Yemen, and the allocation of the amount ($ 500 million) had been allocated in grants and loans for the implementation of development projects”, adding that “through this development program Qatar contributes in achieving the ambitions and aspirations of the Yemeni people to improve the living conditions by implementing integrated development projects in addition to sustainable security and stability.”
Al-Attiyah pointed out that Qatar has already begun in the implementation of those procedures development projects, and after it studied the needs and priorities in the various provinces of Yemen.
He also reviewed the ongoing economic, political, security and humanitarian challenges facing the Yemeni people and said there are “unprecedented challenges facing this brotherly nation, after it has achieved what aspired of lawful rights and freedoms.”
In this regard, al-Attiyah emphasized that the security and stability of Yemen is an international responsibility because of its positive effects on the security and regional and international stability...
He appealed to the international community to provide aid and assistance to meet the requirements of sustainable development of Yemen.
He also emphasized at the same time the importance of brotherly relations between Qatar and Yemen, pointing out that the State of Qatar continues to support development efforts and meets the humanitarian needs of Yemen.
