Three explosions rattled a police center late Tuesday in Sayoun city south-eastern Yemen, however no one was wounded, police officials said. Authorities said that three explosive devices were detonated near the wall of the main police station in Sayoun of the Hadhramout province, some 900 kilometres south-east of the capital Sana’a.
A massive manhunt was launched for the suspected attackers, said the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The Governor of Hadramout Taha Hajir affirmed Wednesday that no human casualties or material losses happened as a result of an explosions.
Hajir said the explosion was a result of an explosive launched by unidentified persons, and its remains that were found at the place of the explosion indicate that it was thrown outside the wall of the building of security administration and did not cause any damage.
He added to almotamar.net that the security authorities are conducting investigations for arresting the perpetrators of the incident. He also called on the media not to magnify in handling such events and to depend on information from its official sources.
Meanwhile, police of the Marib governorate announced last Wednesday the arresting of a suspect accused of planting a land mine that killed three policemen and wounded six others on April 16 in Marib city.
This was the second attack against police forces in the province, after one soldier was killed and seven wounded when rocket-propelled grenades were fired at two checkpoints in the province on April 4. The terrorist network al-Qaeda later claimed responsibility for the attack.
