The Ministry of Oil and Minerals announced that the recent crisis of diesel fuel has recently began to disappear as a result of the arrival of a ship carrying 55,000 tons of diesel. However, until writing this news, it was noticed that hundreds of cars and trucks have been lining up in many gas stations in the capital.

An official source said that the ministry will continue to import diesel material to cover consumer needs. A second ship will arrive at Yemeni ports in the beginning of May, carrying 35,000 tons.

The source expects a third ship carrying 45,000 tons of diesel to arrive on May 8, in addition to two other ships loaded with 100,000 tons. It was stressed that local markets will be fully stabilized after world markets had been disrupted, and the Gulf region was lacking diesel material. This shortage of diesel material came after a number of countries,

including China, India, Iraq and Iran, bought large quantities of diesel.   The Ministry of Oil and Minerals confirmed that the situation of oil derivatives is stable, and that diesel material is currently available at all stations at the same price as before.

The Deputy Minister of Oil and Minerals, Ahmed Dares, told the Yemen news agency that Aden Refineries Company have received 55,000 tons of diesel material. They expect to receive large quantities at the company’s port soon so as to meet the growing demand of the local market.

“Other ships have arrived in the al-Hodeidah province, allowing the surrounding areas of Sana’a and northern and eastern provinces to be supplied,” he added.

Dares stated that the global demand for diesel has led to the delay of the arrival of unloading ships at the port of Aden Refineries Company. The ministry has purchased diesel from abroad at world prices for the domestic market at a subsidized price.

Competent authorities, local councils and all citizens have been called upon to support positive cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Minerals regarding the reporting of any violations or manipulation by the owners of packing stations to take legal action against them.
