The Cabinet has approved a political and theological awareness plan for combating fanaticism, extremism, and terrorism as well as other discriminative or sectarian trends. The cabinet, in its meeting on Tuesday June 24, approved the awareness plan presented by the ministerial committee chaired by the Ministry of Information.
Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Mujawar instructed the concerned ministries, particularly the ministries of education, higher education, information, culture, endowments and guidance and youth and sports to set up executive programs and submit them to the cabinet to be approved and implemented.
The plan aims to fight risks and challenges that have been threatening the unity of Yemeni society, harming the republican regime, constitutional legitimacy and the principal foundations of faith and patriotism as a result of the latest aggressive
and terrorist acts as well as the rebel acts and sectarian, discriminative and provincial trends.
The cabinet also stressed the necessity of firmly confronting such trends using all possible means for promoting the noble humanitarian values of Islam topped by the real brotherhood and equality of values among all citizens in the shade of freedoms and all human rights and committing to perform duties as stipulated by the constitution, valid laws and the six main goals of the Yemeni revolution.
The cabinet also approved the Arab youth pact for the year 2007-2008 that was proposed by Syria and approved by the Arab summit held in Syria March 29-30, 2008. The Arab Youth Pact aims at immunizing the Arab youth against extremism as well as to enhance their Arab and Islamic identity and the social and spiritual values among the youth.
The pact also aims at empowering the Arab youth in the spheres of education, work, health, information technology and social partnership to help combat the cultural changes that have been targeting their societies within the global challenges.
The Arab youth pact also aims at paying more concern to youth issues and giving more space for their issues in the media means as well as to encourage them to communicate and exchange dialogue and expertise. It also aims at encouraging the Arab youth to open themselves to the other cultures and civilizations.
The Arab youth pact also denotes establishing an Arab fund for funding micro, medium and large sport projects, establish an Arab youth inventors’ network, and establish recruitment offices to provide job opportunities for the university students during vacations.
