Judicial sources revealed that a specialized criminal prosecution group in Yemen began interrogating 11 Iranian prisoners on Wednesday on charges of entering Yemeni territorial waters illegally and in possession of over 200kg of narcotics.
Yemeni securities arrested the accused in mid-February on a motorboat off al-Mahara governorate in eastern Yemen. The men were in possession of 203kg of drugs put inside 20 bags on the deck of the ship, carefully packed to keep out moisture and concealed as ordinary cargo. The prosecution suspects that the narcotics were to be smuggled to Saudi Arabia.
