Female teachers and preachers from illiteracy centers have undertaken AIDS and HIV awareness education sessions that aim to break down social taboos and ostracizing of affected people. It aims also to prevent children and women from being infected with the virus.

The workshop was held for women leaders at the Women Forum for Research and Training(WFRT) dialogue hall in Taiz on July 13-16.  The workshop is within the basic HIV Combat Program – for community participation adopted by the center in cooperation with the PROJERSIO organization for creating effective leadership. The main obstacles to cutting new infections are a lack of correct information and community silence.

The WFRT center trained 150 male and female community leaders. Workshops and debates were organized through these sessions, which presented information and skills regarding HIV/AIDS to 1500 men, women and youth inside Taiz, and in rural areas.
