Farmers in various districts of Ibb are demanding more efforts to kill the green worms (al-godami) that are affect the region. They reported that units of plant protection in the Bureau of Agriculture and Irrigation did reach some places. However, in some other remote areas, especially where there are no car roads such as al-Aqiba province of Fara al-Odain district were not reached and the al-godami lesion expanded and continues to exist there.

Farmers claim that the spray used during the daytime and in the afternoon (al-Asr) does not lead to the killing of the al-godami which has done harm to the local agriculture, and they were forced to buy and use additional poisons and pesticides.  Abdullah al-Kamel, General Manager of the Agriculture Bureau in al-Mashanah district, assured that the spray used during the daytime and in the afternoon is not useful and will not produce any consequences, explaining that the green worms escape during the spray and hide under the grass.

Al-Kamel considered the spray employed at the mentioned times to be a mistakes that must be avoided and corrected saying that “the best time for spraying is at sunset.”  The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation represented by its bureau in Ibb governorate and the offices in the districts did not save effort in this respect; more than 16 units of plant protection provided with the required metals have launched the campaign of combating this lesion and were sent to the most infected areas.
