The Supreme National Authority for Combating Corruption (SNACC) declared that it had completed the investigation and inquiry in eight cases related to crimes of corruption.
The Authority’s deputy chairman, Bilquis Abu Osba, said that two files were forwarded to the public prosecution, and the other issues will refer during the coming days.
Osba explained that these issues fall within the 20 cases found after examination related to corruption, out of 226 filed a complaint received by the Authority since its formation last year of which 172 complaints were filed and archived for non-entry into the purview of the Authority. 36 are still under study.
Regarding the issue of the missions, Osba said that so far they met between 50 to 60 percent of the total financial disclosure to 47 cultural attachés abroad, with an accumulated amount of YR 16 billion and 80 million.
Osba pointed out that the Authority has agreed with the High Education Ministry to give a last chance for the culture attachés to complete their financial disclosure until the end of July. She also warned that the Authority will not be easy in this subject and if they do not give their disclosure in the determined period, the Authority will refer them to the prosecution. “There is a real will and a serious direction to combat corruption,” she said. “SNACC now will change a number of rules that are contrary with the combating corruption law,” she added.
