Customs administration of the free zone of Aden governorate destroyed quantities of spoiled foods, medicines and smuggled goods worth YR 62 million.

The seized quantity included 419 cartons of wine, 10 medicine cartons, and 4600 Viagra pills, 193 cartons of children’s games, 181 consummated materials and 8,650 cartons of tomatoes.

“All those goods which are declared unfit for human consumption and included banned goods,” said Abdul-Karim Abdu al-Khobari, Director of the fight against smuggling and customs control to the Newsyemen website. Al-Khobari pointed out that over the coming weeks, large quantities of smuggled drugs will be destroyed, which have been seized during the operations by authorities. “In addition to the quantities found are smuggled fireworks and cigarettes that will first be checked through legal procedures and then destroyed in accordance with the instructions and decisions enforced by authorities,” he stated.

“All citizens must cooperate with the Customs Department to report the smuggling of such goods because of their negative effects on the health of citizens,” he added.
