A Criminal counterfeiting network for identity cards and university’s certificates is composed of nine people; including professors working in the Yemeni universities and belonging to Arab countries were arrested on Wednesday by the general administration for criminal investigation.
The brigadier, Abu Bakr Sa'eed, general director of general administration for criminal investigation said that the administration had received several complaints of rigging university certificates. "A team was formed, headed by Nabil Mohammed Fadel, to follow-up, investigate and seize all offenders," Sa'eed told 26 Sept. website.
The team had been working for two months on the investigation through surveillance of the offenders. One by one, all members of the network had been seized with 71 official governmental stamps from a number of Yemeni universities and colleges.
Brigadier Sa'eed pointed out that the tools and means of forgery were computers, printers, scanners and more than 20 CDs containing designs of the governmental stamps. Also, there were samples of secondary and university certificates, identity cards, and up to 100 samples put in custody. The criminal suspects confessed to forging more than 500 certificates, he said.
