Prosecution releases 254 insolvent prisoners

The General Prosecution undertook the release of 254 insolvent prisoners from central prisons across the governorates, in execution of President Ali Abdullah Saleh’s orders.

The attorney general, Dr. Abdullah al - Olifi, said that the president will pay YR 272, 202, 5000, for the release of these prisoners, adding that YR 30 million had been paid already to 44 insolvent prisoners in Sana’a while procedures are continuing for the release of other insolvents in other governorates.

Dr. Olifi said that the release came according to lists prepared by the prisons committees’ field visits to those governorates. The attorney has released 300 insolvent prisoners, after the payment of YR 115 million. The prosecution in Amran released 10 insolvent prisoners, who failed to pay personal rights. The prosecution head in this governorate told Saba news that YR 4,400,000 will be paid on behalf of the insolvents’, pointing out that the prosecution had already released several prisoners early, for good conduct, during the last Ramadan month after they had served three quarters of their sentence.
