The Interior Ministry has started this week to implement a network security monitor to ensure the safety of tourists while traveling within Yemen.

The Ministry, in collaboration with the Tourism Ministry, will work to provide tourist cars, including those for private tourist companies, with warning systems. The security tools would be used by drivers in case they are intercepted by armed groups who may try to kidnap tourists on highways.

The ministry will also set up a control room connecting all tourist cars, and the room would be equipped with early warning systems. The move comes after recent kidnappings in the country which Yemen says have struck tourism as a number of foreign companies have reduced flights to Yemen.
