The Interior Ministry said that 58 rioters in the governorates of Dhalie, Hadramout, and Abyan, were referred to relevant authorities to face legal measures, after they were arrested by the security forces following their participation in the subversive events which are offensive to the country’s unity and stability.
The Interior Ministry Information Center said that 35 people were arrested in Dhalie because they participated in riots and the attack against the rally in which thousands of Dhalie citizens participated last Wednesday, while another 12 were arrested in Mukalla, Hadramout for their seditious acts against the unity of the country, and participation in acts of anarchy and sabotage with the aim of destabilizing security, stability, and peace.
The security forces in Abyan also arrested 11 people for riots, destruction of public property, and for burning tires in public streets.
The security committee in Dhalie announced that they referred a number of those who participated in the riots to the general prosecution in order to submit them to trial for illegal and subversive actions.
This came out of the Dhalie security committee meeting which was headed by the Governor. The meeting was dedicated to considering the security situations in the governorate and the security force’s performance regarding the security operations and the level of crime detection and criminal tracking.
The committee decided to release five people because of a lack of evidence, but will continue tracking others wanted for security issues.
On the other hand, three expatriates returning from abroad were ambushed in a military area in Yafa’ in Lahj governorate in which one of them was killed and the two others were injured.
The ruling party’s website, ‘Motamar net’, said according to local sources in Yafa’ in Lahj that criminal elements of the Tahir Tamah gang, ambushed three brothers who were returning from abroad to visit their relatives in the Rasad area and shot at them, killing the elder brother Abdulhafiz Abdo Thabit and injured his brothers Fadhl and Salah.
Sources said that the security forces are hunting down the perpetrators in order to arrest them and refer them to justice.
The General People’s Congress (GPC) party’s information department secretary Tariq al-Shami, criticized the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) for their justification of all illegal and unconstitutional actions, explaining that they consider violent use of fire arms, riots, and sabotage to be peaceful struggle. They also describe the call for sedition, discord, advocacy of hatred, and separation as freedom of expression. Al-Shami also criticized the consideration of the JMP for trials of killers, highway robbers, and the enforcement of law and order as human rights abuse and freedom suppression.
