“This campaign comes as a part of MTN’s international strategy to include the private sector in developing and serving local communities and contributing to the state’s efforts in infrastructure, solid development projects, and long term sustainable development,” he said.
This year’s campaign embraces several cities outside of Sana’a with many activities such as environment protection, social awareness raising, and volunteer and charity functions.
Noor Baabad, deputy minister of social affairs, hailed MTN’s social participation saying that the private sector’s involvement in charity and development activities would contribute to reducing corruption and bad practices.
Throughout the campaign a total of 30 projects were carried during the 21 day campaign. 800 MTN staff members worked on a greenery project whereby they planted trees, cleaned parks and evened playground areas as well as painted several schools. Staffers also cleaned mosques, and historical places around the country. The campaign included sports activities and maintenance of sport stadiums. The company also held several educational seminars regarding traffic awareness sessions and education on malaria and how to combat it.
MTN also donated medical equipment to some of the state hospitals including a dialysis unit for Thawara Hospital in Sana’a as well as a bus for the Al-Rahama Orphanage for girls.
