YEMEN -  A Yemeni source has applauded a decision made by Kuwait to ban the TV satellite channel “Suhail” in Kuwait.

According to the source, Suhail TV was funded by the opposition legislator and businessman, Hameed al-Ahmar.

The source said to Saba that the channel had the potential to adversely affect relations between Yemen and Kuwait, relations which are strong between the two countries and serve the common interests of both.

A prominent Yemeni official had expressed concern that the establishment of the Yemeni TV satellite channel “Suhail” in Kuwait would adversely affect relations between the two countries.

The official said that the Ministry of Information in Kuwait denied receiving any official letter concerning the establishment of the channel, but test transmissions from Kuwait have already begun.  According to the official, the “Suhail” channel has been linked to an opposition party of the Yemeni government.
