Al-Houthi sentenced in absentia

Yahia al-Houthi was sentenced to 15 years in absentia by the specialized criminal court on Saturday.

Al-Houthi has been charged with setting up assassination of high official Yemenis.

Other charges al-Houthi had were being a member of a terrorist Organization, assaulting the constitutional order, and spying for foreign countries.

Al-Houthi was elected to parliament in 2003, but his parliamentary was stripped recently for the third time since 2007.

Al-Houthi is now living in Germany as a political asylum.
