Security Authorities arrested 69 Africans as they illegally attempted to gain access to Yemeni territory. Eight of the suspects were female while thirteen were children.
According to the Security Authorities, within the number of the prisoners, fourteen were Sudanese national who were arrested in al-Moneera directorate in al-Hodieda governorate. An additional three Ethiopians were arrested in al-Rouna area.
The remaining 52 refugees were of Somali origin. The Somalis refugees were gathered and transferred to a temporary camp located in Maifa’a directorate, Shabwa governorate. They will be transferred to the main Somali refugee camp in Kharaz at a later date.
On Friday, the Coast Guard Sector of the Red Sea reported that a ship called al-Aseel had deposited over 150 Africans on the coast of al-Luhaya in al-Hodieda governorate. Security Authorities launched a massive search for the African citizens who spread in various directions. The majority of the refugees were caught in the areas located between al-Khokha and Ibn Abas. The Interior Ministry has given orders to return the immigrants back to Africa on the same ship that brought them to Yemen.
