In a Ceremony steeped in tradition of Yemen and Malaysia, Open University Malaysia (OUM) conferred the degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) to 15 and Master of Information Technology (MIT) to 3 of its Students at the International College, University of Science and Technology, Yemen. The special occasion, virtually initiated by OUM Senior Vice President Professor Dr. Mansor Fadzil, was held at Sheraton Hotel. The event was attended by The Yemeni Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr.Mohammed Mutahar, Malaysia Ambassador in Yemen Mr. Abdul Samad Othman, USTY Chairman Dr.Tariq Sinan Abu-lhoom, USTY Vice Chairman Prof. Dr. Dawood Al hidabi, USTY president Dr. Dr. Hameed M. Aqlan, deans, staff and graduates’ families.
President of the University of Science and Technology Yemen, Dr. Hameed M. Aqlan, in his address, congratulated the students with hope that they will prove themselves as market leaders, productive and responsible members of the society. He welcomed the students, their families and guests.
Guest of Honor, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed Mutahar, Deputy Minister of Higher Education congratulated the students for their achievements. He informed them that receiving the scroll during the graduation day is not the end of the education. Learning is no more associated with certain and limited period in our life” he added”. He also admired the collaborative programs USTY is having with many international Universities.
The Best Student, Ms Dina Hassan Al-eryani, in her speech emphasized the importance of education in our life. She said that the more education a person or a population acquires the better off their country is. She closed her speech by quoting for Henry Peter Broughan “Education makes people easy to lead, but difficult to drive; easy to govern, but impossible to enslave.”
It is worth mentioning that the International College of USTY has now established a strong presence in the Yemeni Society and spearheads the national education development by implementing the well proven experience of many Malaysian counterparts. The College offers internationally accredited programs in collaboration with Open University of Malaysia, INCEIF, University Utara Malaysia and University Teknologi Mara Malaysia in different fields of studies.
